American Osteopathic Foundation Golden Ticket Awards
The Golden Ticket Scholarships from the American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) recognize those students who, despite financial obstacles, have achieved academic excellence, displayed leadership, made a commitment to community outreach, and embody Osteopathic tenets and philosophy. Four (4) students will be recognized as finalists and awarded a $5,000 educational scholarship. One (1) of the four (4) students will be selected as the Golden Ticket Winner and awarded an additional $20,000.
Please write a personal statement explaining why financial need is negatively impacting your education. Statements should be no more than 750 words.
Eligibility
• OMS II, OMS III, or OMS IV (both Pomona and Lebanon campuses)
• Significant financial need affecting completion of education
• In the top 25% of their class (outstanding academic achievement while in medical school)
• Demonstrated participation in school/community activities outside of any college requirements; may include leadership in professionally related organizations/activities while in Osteopathic medical school
• Complimentary student membership in the AOA required to apply
• Prior award winners are not eligible
If selected by the COMP and COMP-Northwest Awards Committee for this scholarship, your application packet will be forwarded to the AOF for their consideration. The following additional items will be required for your application packet:
• Two (2) letters of recommendation from the following list: academic medical instructor, Osteopathic physician, professional mentor, or similar professional within the Osteopathic profession, describing how the nominee has achieved academic excellence, displayed leadership, is committed to community outreach, and embodies Osteopathic tenants and philosophy.
• Proof of AOA membership [AOA membership number]
• Optional: Additional materials that demonstrate the student’s leadership in activities outside of college requirements are highly encouraged, but not required
