AOA Presidential Memorial Leadership Scholarship

This educational scholarship from the American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF), which will provide a $10,000 award to one student, was created to recognize Osteopathic medical students committed to the principals of Osteopathic medicine and who have taken great strides toward becoming top student leaders. These individuals have been instrumental in motivating people, and they take conscious, well-calculated steps to develop themselves and others.

Please write a personal statement that outlines your exemplary academic leadership, service, and character, as well as your commitment to Osteopathic medicine. Statements should be no more than 750 words.

Eligibility
• Current OMS II, III or IV in good standing (both Pomona and Lebanon campuses)
• Current membership in the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA); and a complimentary student membership in the AOA required to apply.
• Demonstrated commitment to the Osteopathic profession
• Strong leadership skills and demonstrated use of these skills

If selected by the COMP and COMP-Northwest Awards Committee for this scholarship, your application packet will be forwarded to the AOF for their consideration. The following additional items will be required for your application packet:

• Two (2) letters of recommendation from the following list: academic medical instructor, Osteopathic physician, professional mentor, or similar professional within the Osteopathic profession, detailing the nominee’s leadership qualities, their commitment to Osteopathic principles, and what unique characteristics qualifies them for this award
• Proof of current SOMA and AOA membership [Membership number]
• Curriculum vitae (include all current memberships, Osteopathic or other)
• Personal photo
