Alcon Case Report Award

The Alcon Case Report Award is presented in recognition of a fourth year student who has demonstrated excellence in contact lens patient care through a video case report involving a specific topic. The video case report must be submitted by each fourth year student to the designated Awards Committee person at each optometry school. In addition to winning the Alcon Case Report for WesternU, the student is also eligible for Alcon’s national student award.

  1. Enter the link to your video case report. In order to qualify, the 4th Year student must create a Multi-Media video case report involving one of the following topics using ALCON products. Videos should be no greater than 5 minutes in length:  Successful contact lens refit from a spherical lens to an ALCON toric design to improve visual function  ALCON Multifocal contact lens fitting in patients with ocular surface disease  Successful ALCON contact lens wear and the impact of a healthy ocular surface  ALCON Artificial tear use in perioperative care (cataract or refractive surgery)  Multifocal contact lenses to an ALCON trifocal intraocular lenses: Managing the range of vision lifecycle. Each case report should begin with an Abstract, describing the case. The total video case report submission should not exceed 5 minutes. I. Case History: Patient demographics, Chief complaint, Ocular, medical history, Medications, Other salient information II. Pertinent Findings: Clinical, Physical, Laboratory studies, Others III. Differential Diagnosis: Primary / leading, Others IV. Diagnosis and Discussion: Elaborate on the condition, Expound on unique features V. Conclusion Clinical pearls, Take away points if indicated VII. References: Cite all references appropriately under separate written copy
