Dr. Beverly A. Sanks Guidry Leaders in Excellence and Empathy-Minority Advancement Award

COMP 2019 graduates Drs. Eftikhar Akam, Amanda Dupre, Etuajie Oiyemhonlan Halbert, Adeba Mohammad, and Maureen Nwaokoro established the Dr. Beverly A. Sanks Guidry Leaders in Excellence and Empathy-Minority Advancement Award in honor of their beloved mentor whose ongoing support of College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) students and leadership at WesternU over the past few decades has immeasurably impacted the University community.

The award shall be presented annually to the one student who best meets the following criteria:

  • WesternU COMP (Pomona) student
  • Good academic standing
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (80%)
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Member of the Student National Medical Association
  • Exhibits leadership involvement both on campus and in the Black community

First-, second-, third-year, and graduating students are eligible for this award.
