J. Scott Heatherington, DO Scholarship
The J. Scott Heatherington, DO Scholarship Award was created in 2012 by a generous donation from FamilyCare Health Plans, Incorporated, with a focus on investing in the future of osteopathic medicine in Oregon. The recipients will be known as J. Scott Heatherington, DO, Scholars. Dr. J. Scott Heatherington was known for his leadership in the profession and his embodiment of osteopathic principles and practices. The J. Scott Heatherington, DO Scholar will reflect the personality, characteristics, and philosophies held by Dr. Heatherington, including:
• Understanding and proficiency in osteopathic principles
• Professional and community leadership and involvement
• Creative leadership and active promotion of osteopathic medicine to colleagues and the general public
Scholarship Eligibility/Criteria
• A commitment to practice medicine in the Pacific Northwest is essential
• Limited to students from Oregon
• Applicant must be a medical student in good standing, in their second year at COMP-Northwest
• The selection committee reserves the right to request additional materials, references, letters of support, and information necessary to evaluate the student’s application
Applicants will also be evaluated on:
• Commitment to practice in the Northwest
• Academic performance
• CV or resume
• Recommendations
• Personal essay
A student may only apply for either the Heatherington OR Rott scholarship, but not both.
