Dr. Robert L. and Mrs. Gloria Austin Scholarship (COMP)

HONORS & RECOGNITION AWARD
The Dr. Robert L. and Mrs. Gloria Austin Scholarship provides an award for a third- or fourth-year COMP student in good academic standing, who intends to practice Pediatric Medicine, and has demonstrated financial need.

Please limit your applications to a maximum of three Graduate Awards and three Honors & Recognition Awards. Applications exceeding these limits will not be considered.

Prohibition of AI-Generated Content
To maintain academic integrity and ensure the authenticity of work, the use of generative artificial intelligence tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly GO, Bard, or similar) to produce, rewrite, or substantially edit content in submissions is strictly prohibited. All submitted work must reflect the student’s own original thinking, analysis, and expression. Any use of AI-generated material will be considered a violation of academic honesty policies and may result in disqualification of award application.

Award amounts granted may vary each year depending on available funding.

Discuss the experiences, values, or influences that have shaped your interest in caring for children and families, and explain how you hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of your future pediatric patients. (A 300-word essay is about 0.5 pages single-spaced or 1.3 pages double-spaced using standard 12-point font and 1-inch margins).
  2. In 300 words, please provide a brief personal statement describing your financial hardship, including the personal circumstances and challenges that have contributed to your financial need and how these challenges have affected your educational journey. You may also describe how financial assistance would support your ability to continue your education and achieve your professional goals. (A 300-word essay is about half a page single-spaced or one full page double-spaced using a standard 12-point font like Times New Roman with 1-inch margins.)
