Guey C. Mark, MD, and Clara T. Mark Scholarship

The Guey C. Mark, MD, and Clara T. Mark Scholarship is presented to a COMP student who has served in active duty in the military, or is currently serving as a reservist; has a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2; and demonstrates a deep commitment to the concepts of humanism and community outreach.

Guey Chung Mark, MD, was a first-generation Chinese immigrant from Toi-san, China, who served active duty in the US Army Medical Corps in Korea. Following that, he was a family practice physician in Stockton, California, for 50 years before his retirement. His wife, Clara T. Mark, was born in Chicago, Illinois, and was the main force behind Guey’s success, raising their family and serving as his office manager, nurse, medical assistant, and human resources coordinator. Guey and Clara Mark’s son, Kelvin Mark, DO ’90, established a family scholarship in his parents’ honor.

First-, second-, and third-year students are eligible for this award.
